CHALLENGE

To create a visually engaging poster for the short horror film The Guard Station.

Here are some thumbnail concepts I sketched out which helped guide us towards the final design.

PROCESS

We decided to go forward with this concept as it encapsulated the protagonist’s pyrophobia and isolation. The first few stages were about finding the right composition for the main focal point in the artwork.

I began with painting in black & white to find the best lighting sources which helped me render the flames in colour later on.

Solution

We were excited with the final poster design for The Guard Station, and even more excited when the short film was officially selected for several horror film festivals in the US!
